About KOI

KOI, Inc. comprises team members who represent many collective years of distinguished experience in audio engineering, design, and marketing.

Located in Framingham, Massachusetts, USA, KOI was founded by Shuji Yamamoto, an audio engineer and designer whose inventions for such renowned companies as Bose, AR, and others have resulted in some of the most successful products in the history of the industry. Among his recent successes are the AEGO series of compact speaker systems (produced under the Acoustic Energy brand) and the Toshiba SD-63HK, which have garnered impressive critical acclaim.

The original KOI Tiger was produced in limited quantities for use by musicians and audio industry professionals. Incorporating proprietary technologies and representing more than five years of focused research and development, the Tiger continues to be held in the highest regard among discerning listeners. Ongoing research at KOI has resulted in evolutionary advances, embodied in the latest version of the Tiger, which made its debut in the Japanese market with great success.

The KOI-Berklee Connection

KOI enjoys a special relationship with the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Faculty and student members of the Berklee community have the opportunity to participate in Listening Panel evaluation sessions. It is a symbiosis that confers unique benefits to its participants.

For KOI, these sessions represent an important source of product feedback from highly trained listeners, who bring a unique perspective to the evaluative process. For the evaluators, these listening experiments represent an opportunity to not only gain exposure to many potential tools of the trade, but also play a significant role in shaping the audio equipment landscape of the future.
